Smile Buddy is a pediatric specialist clinic. Children's dentistry is not an add-on to our practice; it is the whole practice. Our team has advanced training in treating children, and that training shapes everything from how we greet your child to how we plan their care.
We are especially well suited to:
★ Younger children, including toddlers and first visits
★ Anxious patients who need patience, gentle communication and a thoughtful approach
★ Children with additional needs, with care adapted to how each child learns and feels safe
★ More complex pediatric cases that call for specialist-level experience
Not every cavity means conventional drilling and filling. Depending on your child's age, the size and location of the cavity, and how they cope with treatment, we may be able to use conservative options that preserve healthy tooth structure and reduce the treatment burden, such as:
★ SDF (silver diamine fluoride)
★ SMART / ART (minimally invasive restorative techniques)
★ Hall Technique
★ Glass ionomer restorations
★ Other conservative approaches, chosen case by case
We will always explain which option we recommend for your child, why, and what to expect, including any trade-offs. For example, SDF can darken treated areas of the tooth.
★ Pediatric specialist care: advanced training focused entirely on children.
★ Child-friendly environment: a fun, themed space designed to help kids feel comfortable and safe.
★ Behaviour guidance: our team uses child-friendly language and thoughtful behaviour management techniques.
★ Options for anxious children and children with additional needs, including sedation dentistry where appropriate.
★ Rewards and incentives for kids who complete visits and keep up good oral hygiene.
★ Parent-friendly convenience: flexible scheduling around school and family life.
★ Direct insurance billing
We don't just treat cavities as they appear. We look at why your child is getting them.
Every child's risk is different, so we assess the reasons behind the decay and build an individualized caries-management plan. Depending on your child, it can include:
★ Diet and home-care coaching that fits your family's real routine
★ Fluoride and SDF where indicated
★ Monitoring of early lesions so small problems are watched and managed early
★ More frequent follow-up for higher-risk patients
The goal is fewer and smaller treatments over time, and a child who feels comfortable at the dentist. Our playful environment and gentle approach help kids learn that a trip to the dentist is good for their teeth, and fun, too!
